Today, we talk about a new technology called NVIDIA Optimus. Efficiency and optimal use of power are key aspects of any laptop. “Optimus”, like its namesake-transformer, is a system which runs cool, using the Intel i5 HD graphics chipset while operating under standard conditions, like Office applications or net-surfing. But, unlike simple lappys, when a graphical application calls for more juice, the NVIDIA discrete graphics chipset is switched on. Although this consumes more power, it proves to be a perfect compromise between long-battery life and extreme performance laptops. Kinds of make me wonder, why did nobody think this one up earlier?
